Today over 300,000 officially protected palm trees in the city lend it a somewhat exotic air. These palms are evident on every street corner and can be especially enjoyed in the well-tended city park and just a short walk away in the Huerto del Cura (Priest Garden), where a palm in the form of a seven-armed candelabra is a good example of the freaks of nature.

And 5 minute drive there is the G.A commercial centre there are three large Supermarkets and several bars some offering nigh time entertainment, restaurants, and shops. A popular local market is held on Thursdays - again within 5 minute walk of this property, which is great for all those holiday souvenirs and presents for the family. Spend the morning strolling past the stalls, stop for the odd refreshment or two and then buy a roasted chicken from the stall and venture back home for lunch.
